LOOK AT THIS EXHAUSTED FRUIT
This project reflects my own state of mind and body under the high pressure of work. I photographed shrivelled and Rotten fruits as a metaphor. When I graduated and stepped into my career, the busy work and the extreme lack of sleep gradually stretched my mind and body; I felt my energy was over hollowed out just like those murdered fruits. The inspiration for this work is that one day, I was overworked again until 01 am and felt exhausted; I saw a totally outdated apple on my desk, and suddenly, I felt that I was that shrinking apple. I designed and shot a series of scenes of fruits' life to represent my state of life and inner feelings. I used over-saturated tones to make images feel like an intensification of reality. On the other hand, it also shows my strong resistance to this work mode. I quoted one of Lars Tunbjörk ’s works, Alien at the Office, as my second scene’s background because the oddity of these images and the emotional tone is one of my inspirations for reflecting a depressing and odd work environment in China caused by the violent involution.
